Quick tip: A friend of mine who has a super green thumb told me to sprinkle ashes (like from a fire or leftover from your grill) on my herbs and just to repeat in between rains. He only said to make sure you check your soil (because ash is typically alkaline so make sure it doesn't mess up the acidity of your soil.) I haven't had any problems with bugs yet on my herbs.
