I need to add Last Child in the Woods to my to-read list, I've seen it in bookstores before and been wanting to read it... One of my go-to books, at this stage of our family lives, is How To Talk So Kids Will Listen And Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber & Elaine Mazlish (I do wish the title weren't so long, lol!). I love their simple, straight-forward approach for how to foster a positive relationship with your kids, encourage their cooperation, discipline in a respectful, peaceful manner, etc. I also LOVE the cartoon examples which, while slightly cheesy, make it very easy to quickly review their suggested strategies. I also have a large stack of Montessori books that heavily influence my parenting, but one of my favorites (and also one of the least intimidating) is How To Raise An Amazing Child the Montessori Way (what IS it with these books with long titles?) by Tim Seldin.

One of my favorite books that I like to read with children is Max Lucado's, " You Are Special. " This book has a wonderful message about believing in yourself and the power of love. My kids really enjoyed the illustrations, too. Max Lucado has written several books geared toward self-awareness, unconditional love, and positive character traits. Happy reading and thank you for sharing your recommended authors.
