…so much to cover about the weekend but, at the same time, I’ve got a crazy, busy week.
Tomorrow evening is part two of our parent education series, “Successful Strategies for Middle School”, I’ve got at least two client photo shoots Wed-Fri AND I’m throwing a bridal shower for my friend, Nancy, on Saturday morning. Things are a bit hectic with the “to do’s” on my lengthy list, but I have so much to share about the past three days. I think I’m going to take things chronologically (starting with Friday morning) since that is the only way I can get my head around it.
To start, let me tell you about a fabulous new discovery: organic honey in bulk! I’ve been deeply influenced by the Zero Waste Family in Marin and the “No Impact Man” book and documentary – this find was SO serendipitous. I can’t wait to share the other lifestyle changes we enacted just this weekend.
I made my usual run to to the Cupertino Farmer’s market on Friday morning. FYI, it’s adjacent to Vallco Shopping Center in the parking lot. Either I never noticed this stand before or it is relatively new, but they had the biggest jars of honey for sale. Honey never goes bad (although it may crystallize a bit) so an investment like this is very worthwhile and cost effective. It also cuts down on packaging which is the central message of both the Zero Waste Family and No Impact Man, Colin Beavan. The honey is incredibly delicious, too. The variety above is Sage and it was my favorite of the bunch (I tasted every one). I ended up buying the 3-pound size – there is a larger one available but I worried about it being too heavy for our pantry shelves. And this is not something I would store at ant level, aka the floor of the food cabinet.
They will take the jars back when you are finished but I think I’ll be keeping this one. I’ve got a nice collection of mason jars going and I have big plans for using them on Saturday, April 9th (stay tuned).

Lastly, our parent education series was featured in our local paper, the Sunnyvale SUN, on Friday, March 18th (and also picked up in the local section of the San Jose Mercury News the next day – yeah!). I’ll post a PDF on my website soon; in the interim, here is the link:

I go through honey like water. I simply love it. My mom just recently got a gallon of local honey for $25. It’s amazing stuff. Great also for my kids’ allergies.
