April giveaway… plus my newest food obsession
This month’s giveaway is one of my favorites thus far! My very talented friend, Heather Cooke, made the beautiful blanket and burp cloths trimmed with verses from Eric Carle’s ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. She combined these seriously adorable items with a copy of the book, plus ‘The Very Busy Spider’, ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’ and Jim Trelease’s ‘Read Aloud Handbook’. I had to bid (somewhat) furiously for these at our recent school auction but it was worth it!
I think these will make a great gift for a parent-to-be, don’t you? Be sure to enter before Friday, April 9th at noon (PST)!
A winner will be randomly drawn from all comments left ON THIG BLOG ENTRY (please do not enter via a comment on Facebook – it doesn’t seem to transfer properly). Please leave your name, too, so I may announce you as the winner; I’m starting to get more entries from people I do not know (hooray!) and want to make sure I can contact the lucky winner.
In the mean time, let’s talk about food obsessions! Mine currently is goat cheese (both feta and chevre). Breakfast, lunch or dinner, I am usually finding a way to add goat cheese to my plate. In the photos below, you will find a few favorites: scrambled eggs with feta and fresh thyme, toasted pain levain with chevre, fresh thyme and halved Muscat grapes (this will definitely make an appearance on my next Sangria party menu!). The other items include avocado toast (thanks, Joanna Goddard for the tip!) and chilled brocoli salad (blanch brocoli for about 1 minute, plunge into ice water, drain, then drizzle with olive oil, fresh lemon juice, sea salt and freshly ground pepper). Anyone have any other suggested uses for goat cheese? I’m interested in hearing from you!
Happy Spring!

Please enter me in the contest! PS – that makes me hungry!– Katherine
We want to win- this would be adorable as a gift for a friend or even for baby #2 which we will hopefully have someday soon. As for food obsessions, I am in love with homemade granola right now. I have a super easy recipe that yields a salty-sweet treat that is almost sinful at breakfast!
I had no idea that our friend Heather C. was so talented! I love it!
It’s beautiful – love it!!
Ooooh! Love it! My big sister’s pregnant right now (her first!) so this would be a fun gift to pass on. =) Right now we’re obsessed with greens. Zach’s been buying them at the farmer’s market the past several weeks– collard greens are a staple, but he’s also been buying some others (there broccoli stalks that look kinda like mini broccoli?) and we even experimented with a handful of dandelion greens last week. Usually sautee them in a pan with olive oil or butter… they’ve been fabulous, and I feel super healthy eating them. ; )

This giveaway is just adorable! Eric Carle’s books are absolute classics and the blanket and burp cloths are so sweet. And in terms of goat cheese recipes….have you ever had baked pears with goat cheese? Such a delicious combination! My husband and I used to frequent a little restaurant in Ypsilanti, MI that served this yummy appetizer. It’s definitely worth finding a recipe for a trying out if you haven’t already!
