green, green goodness

Look what our garden gave forth today! We are swimming in cucumbers. I’m not complaining… now we can make homemade pickles. Tate has been obsessed with making our own ever since we got the Parker Pickles in Seattle and McClure’s Pickles over the Internet. We have been growing varieties best suited for pickling (can’t remember their names but we got the seedlings at the farmer’s market).

Now we have enough to make our first batch. I think we’ll take the lazy route – blanch them and pop them in leftover pickle juice. I hope it works!

In other great green news, I got these chair cushions today at Emily Joubert Home & Garden. Aren’t they beautiful? They’re really reasonably priced, too. I couldn’t resist. Every time I look at our outdoor dining areas, I smile. Doesn’t take much to make me happy. A garden and a place to sit and I’m good. Happy Weekend!
