looking for the perfect lbd
Who among you has a perfect little black dress? One that you still wear TODAY and can foresee wearing into the future. If so, will you tell me about it?
Additionally, if there is one out there you lust after, will you share it here? We all could use a little enlightenment, don’t you think?
This year, I am on the hunt for an LBD that will reflect what will *hopefully* be a more sophisticated chapter in my life. Having spent so many years in mommy mode, I have long forsaken fashion for comfort and a “no need to think about it” uniform of leggings and long, layered silhouettes. Boring.
It’s time to shake things up, Ladies and Gentlemen!
As a bit of background, I do have two black dresses in my closet. But neither is the sort that can go from date night with my husband to swanky cocktail party (not that we go to many of those, but you never know…). Nor are they ones that are reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly or Jackie O. Before I slide (gracefully, please!) into later middle age, I would like to have one last hurrah… preferably in stilettos and a LBD. So, any suggestions, stories, etc. you have to share, please let me know. I would love to be YOUR student!
P.S. The above book is terrific if you are a seamstress or seamstress wanna-be. Alas, I am not. Hopefully, my alterations-oriented neighbor can make sense of it. And if anyone wants to borrow it, please let me know.
P.P.S. I’m hoping my favorite designer, EmersonMade, comes out with a nightime/dressier version of this: http://www.emersonmade.com/collections/2010-styles/products/the-emerson-shift… – maybe with a little center bow?
