mittens from mushrooms (among other things)

mittens from mushrooms (among other things)

These gorgeous, handmade fingerless mittens ALMOST make me excited for the chilly weather to come. I say almost because today’s 90 degree heat feels really good! We’ve had too many cold summer days for me to let go of the extra warmth just yet. But I will be slipping these darling things on the minute the temperature drops into the 60’s.

I attended the Chol Chol Foundation benefit at Emily Joubert on Saturday night… so inspiring! It was nice to see a big crowd gathered and learn more about the Mapuche Indian women in Southern Chile who make such beautiful textiles. I was told the brown dye for my mittens came from mushrooms, bark and other plant material – whatever the women could gather nearby. They work hard and I am very proud to support their efforts.
