take action for childrens’ rights

I was planning to annnounce my September giveaway today but I got an email from the IRC and felt it was more important to post this request instead. Many of you know about my long involvement with the IRC, as a volunteer for many years, and now a passionate supporter of the many causes the IRC sustains.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child protects children by defining their basic human rights. It is the most comprehensive, accepted international agreement on basic protections for children. 193 countries have committed to support it.

However, only two nations in the world have yet to join the global community in ratifying this agreement: Somalia and the United States. Please consider following the link below to sign a petition urging President Obama and Congress to ratify the convention without delay.
